About Us

The Computer Learning Centers Partnership is a public-private partnership designed to bring together business, education, philanthropic, ecumenical and government resources in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The CLCP program offers technology instruction including the Take Earned Computers Home (TECH) Club, a project-based curriculum that includes a Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program and other literacy activities, homework assistance, private school initiative, enrichment activities and field trips, community service projects and a daily healthy snack.

There are currently 14 CLCP centers located throughout Fairfax County in housing developments, neighborhood centers, schools and churches.

High Tech Resources for Children and Their Families

Since 1995, CLCP centers have made technology and after school enrichment activities available to approximately 5,000 children. There are over 2,000 children currently enrolled in the CLCP program, which is administered by the Fairfax County Office of Partnerships. Because the overhead costs are paid by Fairfax County, every dollar donated goes directly to enabling children to improve their technology skills, complete project-based literacy activities, participate in homework labs, and take part in service-learning projects.

Students and parents are encouraged to be active partners in the CLCP program. Students can use technology to explore their own interests. They also help annual community service projects each year. All CLCP centers participate in Make a Difference Day and National Youth Service Day. Parents can volunteer in the lab and accompany students on field trips.

Changing Lives

The CLCP program is changing lives and futures. Program benefits include:

• improved school attendance
• academic achievement soars
• increased self-esteem
• students earn computers for home use
• internship and employment opportunities
• smooth school to work transitions
• enhanced literacy skills.

The Power of Partnerships

CLCP is successful because of the collaboration, dedication and contributions of its partners and Advisory Council. The Advisory Council represents area businesses, non-profit organizations, community and civic-based organizations and private citizens. The CLCP has the support of more than 100 partners and Advisory Council members.
